Kitchen Tips

* To rid the cutting board of garlic or onion smell, cut a lime or lemon in half and rub the surface with the cut side of the fruit. Or, make a paste with baking soda and water and apply plenty of it. Rinse off.
* If you break an egg on the floor, sprinkle it heavily with salt; after five minutes sweep dried egg up into the dustpan.
* Hot vinegar will remove paint spots from glass.
* To remove streaks on stainless steel, rub with baby oil.
* Wash your sponge in the dishwasher.
* Sprinkle the broiler pan, while hot, with dry laundry detergent. Cover with a dampened paper towel and let the burned food set for a while. Food will come off easily.
* Loosen grime on the can opener by brushing with an old toothbrush.
